Fabulous vintage 1930s signed GWENDA powder compact with polished steel vanity mirror, made in England. This gorgeous piece. which is made from steel metal, celluloid and butterfly wing foil, is most likely a souvenir from the passenger steam ship M.V. Reina Del Pacifico which was launched in September 1930.
This piece is in good vintage condition. However, PLEASE NOTE that the celluloid covering on both back and front has shrunk slightly, exposing a thin rim of the underlying metal. There are also a few small areas of tarnish on the outer rim and a few flat air bubbles. The black celluloid backing has some surface scratching commensurate with age. The interior is in very good, clean condition, although it does not contain powder or a puff. The outer rim of the sifter is present, but there is no central mesh. The clasp is nice and tight.
This powder compact would make a fantastic Christmas gift for the special woman in your life, mom, granny, aunt, cousin or best friend.
All round, a super little piece of 1930s history!
